Emerson Avenue Baptist Church

That Church on the Corner

Rev. Justin Thornburgh (he, him, his)

Pastor Justin has been serving the church and community since 2013. He is married to Mae and together they are raising their three creative and awesome kids.

Justin has a deep and abiding commitment to social justice and activism. He believes that the body of Christ has a responsibility to help care for and advocate for those whose lives have been against the wall, and that our response to God's amazing love is to be bearers of that love every where we go. He has served the American Baptist Churches nationally as a member of their Race and Racial Violence Task Force, he serves on the American Baptist Churches of Greater Indianapolis Multi-Cultural Team, is an active clergy member of Faith in Indiana, and active in community organizing.

Rosie Butler, MA, LSW, Director of the ICAN Assistance Center

Long acquainted with the Irvington Community, through her years working with the Marion County Children's Guardian Home, Rosie was excited to return to work within the community in October 2011 with the Irvington congregations in their community outreach.  She likes to remind people though, that she is only a social worker...not a miracle worker, that is our Lord's work!
